I’ve participated in my first design competition. The task was to design wireflow and high fidelity screens for a brief based around robots in space. Unfortunately I wasn’t selected in the top 40. Despite the outcome, I had fun as I’ve not done UI\/UX designs since university.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nThe Brief: Lunar Colony\u2014Management of Hexabot multi-purpose robots.<\/strong> User Scenario: Resource Collection for a Turbine Prototype<\/strong> Apple emailed me in early November about a competition they were hosting, to design a tree on an iPad to have the chance for my design to be projected onto Battersea Powerstation. Of course I forgot about it until the last day. I only had about 6 hours to imagine a design and execute it. While I do have an iPad Pro and software, I didn’t feel confident enough to create my design in that short time frame. So I made in on my PC, which is cheating but I didn’t submit it.<\/p>\n\n\n My design is an ode to London’s fantastic and historic Underground Lines. The tinsel represents the major tube lines, in their exact colours. The baubles are the station icons with some connecting, which is accurate. The background was originally a green gradient, I wanted to add the underground icon pattern but I messed it up and accidentally created this, which I preferred. In a parallel universe, it\u2019s the year 2025, and humanity has been establishing settlements on the Moon for
the better part of a decade. Everyday life in the lunar colonies would be impossible without
Hexabots\u2014ingenious, multi-purpose robots that are crucial to survival in this unforgiving environment.
Both families and teams of explorers rely on these tireless companions to perform a wide variety of tasks,
from mining precious resources to growing crops and exploring uncharted craters. Your mission is to
design an app to help lunar pioneers manage Hexabots in an effortless and efficient manner\u2014assigning
tasks, tracking progress, and receiving vital updates with just a few taps of their fingers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the Moon, advanced technology is essential. A research team in one of the lunar colony\u2019s science
domes is working on a prototype turbine using a silicon 3D printer. However, they lack the specific
materials needed to complete the project. The user opens the app to manage the Hexabots and starts on
the homepage, where they check the status of each Hexabot with all related info. Their goal is to quickly
ensure that a Hexabot is tasked with gathering the necessary resources. Once this is accomplished, the
user then monitors the Hexabot\u2019s progress, receiving updates when it has collected the materials and
